Agni Sreedhar is an underworld don turned writer turned journalist turned filmmaker. He studied law in Bangalore and was intent on entering the Indian Civil Service when circumstances forced him to turn to crime. Starting from the early 1980s, Sreedhar found himself entrenched in the bitter gang wars that shaped the contours of modern Bangalore. This book is an intimate, first-person account of the two decades he spent in the world of crime. But My Days in the Underworld isn´t just a tale of murder and blood. It is a study of a system that runs parallel to the world ordinary people inhabit - a lateral universe, one with its own police force and laws, one where the criminal justice system has all but failed. This is a story of a city as seen through the personal histories of politicians who ruled Karnataka, men like Gundu Rao, Ramakrishna Hegde, Bangarappa and Deve Gowda as well as those who were responsible for shaping Bangalore´s underworld: Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Rajan, Sharad Shetty, Kotwal Ramchandra, Jayaraj and Muthappa Rai. 1. Wer verdient konkret daran? James Risen deckt auf. 1. Sprache: Deutsch. Erzähler: Andreas Denk. Hörprobe: http://samples.audible.de/bk/xaod/000369/bk_xaod_000369_sample.mp3. Chanakya was an Indian teacher, philosopher, and royal advisor. He managed the first Maurya emperor Chandragupta’s rise to power at a young age. He is widely credited for having played an important role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire, which was the first empire in archaeologically recorded history to rule most of the Indian subcontinent. Chanakya is traditionally identified as Kautilya or Vishnu Gupta, who authored the ancient Indian political treatise called Arthasastra. As such, he is considered as the pioneer of the field of economics and political science in India, and his work is thought of as an important precursor to classical economics. 1. Hindi. No other bandit in recent times has captured the public´s imagination as much as Koose Muniswamy Veerappan. Be it his trademark moustache, stories of his daring escapades or his ruthless massacre of officers, Veerappan continues to fascinate, even 13 years after his death. Veerappan: Chasing the Brigand is a lucid and incisive account of the rise and fall of India´s most dreaded forest brigand. Chronicled by K. Vijay Kumar, IPS, the man who spearheaded the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force (STF) that planned and executed the dreaded bandit´s encounter, the book relives the various incidents that shaped Veerappan´s life - from his birth in Gopinatham in 1952 to his death in 2004 in a shootout in Padi. It traces his dramatic rise from a small-time poacher and sandalwood smuggler to a brutal fugitive who held three states to ransom for two decades. The ruthless killings and high-profile kidnappings masterminded by Veerappan, including the 108 day ordeal involving Kannada cinema superstar Dr Rajkumar, are described in fascinating detail. Veerappan: Chasing the Brigand is the most authentic account of the life and times of the dreaded outlaw. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Vivek Madan. Henry V is one of the most famous monarchs England ever had. His story is one of incredible rise against overwhelming odds: as heir to the throne, he began as a complete failure, his reputation very low, as he was an insecure ruler and victim to plots and cabals to remove him from power. While England was at war with France, everything seemed to go from terrible to terribly worse. The Battle of Agincourt was one of the most impressive gambles ever taken in military history. Henry V should never had won it, for the English were outmanned by the French six to one; but he did, so bravely and brilliantly that it would transform everything for him, ultimately giving him the means to turn upside down England´s failing structures and bring back a much-needed sense of national pride. Discover the thrilling story of the underdog fighting for seemingly out-of-reach success, and making history on his way, with this lively and much-documented audiobook. 1. Language: English.
